Waiting For Godot

  •  What connection do you see in the setting (“A country road. A tree.Evening.”) of the play and these paintings?

This Two paintings has very much similarities. This two paintings  by Caspar David Fredrich (September 5, 1774 - May 7, 1840). Beckett  was inspired by this painting. The one painting was of 'Longing'. This painting was the inspiration behind of the 'setting' of 'Waiting for Godot'. In the painting of 'Longing' there were one couple who longing for somethings. Waiting can be read sometimes as longing. In the painting of 'Waiting for Godot' there were two men who was waiting. The words 'longing' and 'waiting' also suggest similar meanings. Waiting is the meaning of longing something, longing for Godot, longing connected with salvation or meaninglessness.

  • The tree is the only important ‘thing’ in the setting. What is the importance of tree in both acts? Why does Beckett grow a few leaves in Act II on the barren tree -The tree has four or five leaves - ?

Leaves on Tree - Waiting for Godot

The tree is a very important symbol in the setting of the play. In first Act there no any leaf on the tree. But in 2nd Act there were four of five leafs. It symbolize the hope. That there were one type of big change will come in their situations, because of Godot. So, leafs also symbolizes hope and tree also symbolizes Universe and Human indifferent bush and shrew also religious symbolism.

  •    In both Acts, evening falls into night and moon rises. How would you like to interpret this ‘coming of night and moon’ when actually they are waiting for Godot?

Image result for image of waiting for godot

In both acts, evening falls in to night and moon rise. In first act we know that Vladimir many time said that when night comes? The night and moon symbolize the hope of something of change. But we know that nature can not wait for anything, its running on its own way. But in the life of human being, there is only wait, no tomorrow will come, and its being human's daily routine.

  •    T  The director feels the setting with some debris. Can you read any meaning in the contours of debris in the setting of the play.                                     Image result for image of series on the setting of waiting for godot                                                                                         The presence of debris on the setting of the play, it suggest the world War 2. The theme of the play is nothingness and meaninglessness. And also shows the destruction after the world War 2.

  •     Tow are the props like hat and boots used in the play? What is the symbolical significance of these props.                                                                         Image result for image of waiting for godot                                                                                              This two props like Hat and Boots both symbolized very deep meaning. Hat was connected with Vladimir and Boots was connected with estragone. Boots suggest the physical meaning and Hat suggest the spiritual meaning. Physical and spiritual both are different, means Vladimir and Estragone both were different to each other, but some time, you come to same situation, you may coming at the same situation.
  •    Who according to you is Godot? God? An object of desire? Death? Goal? Success? Or  . . .
According to me, Godot is Hope. Vladimir and Estragone have one type of hope. They have a hope for salvation, one day Godot will come and they will get salvation. And Godot is also one type of goal to where Vladimire and Estragone wanted to reach, That is the goal of salvation.

  • Do you think that the obedience of Lucky is extremely irritating and nauseatic? Even when the master Pozzo is blind, he obediently hands the whip in his hand. Do you think that such a capacity of slavishness is unbelievable?
Yes, the obedience of Lucky is extremely irritating and nauseatic. Even when the master Pozzo is blind, he obediently hands the whip in his hand. Yes,I think that this is the capacity of slavishness is unbelievable. It also suggest that England control on Ireland because the name of Lucky and Pozzo suggest the name of country. Lucky was truly devoted to his master, even if his master was totally blind.

  •   Which of the following sequence you liked the most:
o   Vladimir – Estragon killing time in questions and conversations while waiting
Vladimir and Estragon: The Had and the Boot
o   Pozzo – Lucky episode in both acts
o   Converstion of Vladimir with the boy

The sequence of Pozzo and Lucky's episode in the both acts, I liked the most. Because of this scene I was feeling shocked when seeing this scene, such a capacity of slavishness is unbelievable, the relationship of master - slave and Lucky was fully devoted to his master, even if he was blind. So, that's why I liked Lucky and Pozzo's episode most.

review : Yugpurush - the play

Yugpurush - the play

Yugpurush - the play was short documentary on the play and the person - Shrimad Rajchandra Shrimadji was born on the day of Kartik Purnima on 9th November 1867 in Vavania, Gujarat. A perfect blend of pure knowledge, selfless devotion and complete detachment.

The play was very nice piece of art, an art of acting. This play based on the Gandhiji and his spiritual Guru 'Rajchandraji'. We called that Gandhiji as Mahatma, but we may don't know that behind making him Mahatma, there was also one Mahatma, named Rajchandraji. So, that's why this play also known as 'Mahatma na Mahatma'.

About the play i want to sat that the acting of all the characters or actors are excellent. Background changing of the stage and management of timing and all other things was really good. In this play the flash back technique was really used very well, there was a frame within the frame. So, this play was all about Gandhiji and Rajchandraji. Gandhiji learned many things from them like Ahinsa and Brahmcharya vrat Etc. Rajchandraji gained self - revelation at the age of only seven. After that he was only interested in inner self and forgot to care of physical body and died at the age of 33. He was capable to doing 100 works at the same time without mistack and successfully, known as 'Shatavdhan'.
So, this was the great opportunity to us to watch the great play. This play also in other language like Hindi, English, Marathi and many more. So, this is about the play 'Yugpurush' Mahatma na Mahatma'.
Thank You.

OD: Review on Pehredar Piya Ki.

Pehredar  Piya Ki. Is it Progressiveor Regreesssive? Ban Pehredar Piya Ki. Why?

Pehredar Piya ki, a new daily series by Shashi Summet productions airing on Sony TV is the talk of the town now a days. The serial Pehredar piya ki is about a 9 year old boy married to a 18 year old girl. This serial is about the life of 9 year old boy Ratan and 18 year old girl Diya. because of some circumstances she married with Ratan and tack a responsibility of taking care of Ratan. Died father of Ratan, who leave his whole property for Ratan and Diya. And of the age of 18 Diya also take a responsibility of whole properties and business. Relationship of Diya and Ratan is very pure relationship, nothing sexual we find between both of them.

As per my point of view that this serial is progressive, because in  TV anything is possible. Yes, it is true that our government is prohibition act to child marriage, but it is only one type of story or we can say imaginative story. The issue of child marriage is not showing first time in TV serial. We all know about the famous TV serial Balika Vadhu on Colors. This serial is also about child marriage, but no one take object about to banned that serial. So, in short, this serial is progressive and there is no  need to banned this serial. In this serial both the side good and evil has presented, but it is depend on us, that which things you have to take and which things to ignore. I am fully in favor  of supporting this serial that this serial is releasing continue with more and more TRP.

                                                                     Thank You.

Review of the Hindi play 'Didgarshak'.

'Digdarshak' - The Hindi play

The film screening committee of department of English, M.K.B.U. organised the screening of the one act play named 'Digdarshak' on 8th august, 2017. This was a very nice play. This play is written by Priyam Jani and the director of this play is Rishit Javeri. The main theme of the play is the main conflict between Theater and Cinema or Stage Vs Screen. This is the central conflict in the play.

The protagonist of the play, the director is in favor of theater. He dislikes talented actors joining film industry or cinema. This is about 'Art for the sake of Art' Vs 'Art for the sake of life'. This play also talk about the theme of Art Vs family, means the balancing between professional work and family, it is very difficult to give same time to both work and family. The protagonist, the director has sacrificed the joy of family life on the alter  of theater,, he gives more time to his work and he is more creative or active towards theater.

In this play, there is also reference to 'method acting' and Stanislavsky's system. This play also reffed to kunstlerroman, means artist's novel. The novel in which the protagonist is an artist like painter, musician, or poet. this play has both these trajectories. The story of the director was highly potential to be Kunstlerroman, where he ens with arrogant rejection of the Cinema life. the story of the actor is that of Bildungsroman where he settles for being a mere useful Bollywood actor. So, in short, this is great experience to watch this such a nice play.

Thank You.

'Breath' - a play

Interpretation of the short play " Breath" by Samuel Beckett

'Breath' - a short play is a very shortest version of play. the play 'Breath' is only a thirty seconds play. It is very difficult and challenging to give interpretation of this play. This play is about absurdity, meaninglessness and existentialism.

In this play, when we starting to watch it, we hear the noise of breath. When this play is staring there is one scene of sun rising, it related with birth and human existence,  birth and breath can not possible without each other. In the second scene we see the puppets, it shows that in reality human being is puppet of breath. You have to live according to your breath. In this play also show very speedy life of human being. They want to live more in comparison to their breath, it is also show the very busy life of human being. This speedy life is also connected with our breath. In this video we can also see the adult life style. At the last scene it is about sunset, it shows that our life is start like sun rising and ends like sunset, and between this both there is our life, which depends on our breath.  It is also shows the meaninglessness of our life. our life or breath play between birth and death. The next scene there is one album of photos, it shows that one day there is only memories of our life, nothing else. Our life is meaningless. (ultimately person dies and nothing left behind them).
We can say that, there is no any meaning of our life, like sun rise  our life is start and like sunset our life will be end. Our existence is not permanent, it is absurd, there is no any purpose of our life, our life or our existence is meaningless.

Thank you.

Existentialism - 'Waiting for Godot'

Interpretation of the videos about existentialism.

Ans : 1

Video 1: What is Existentialism?

This video is about the term what is Existentialism? Existentialism means it is all about freedom, passion and individuality. 'Believing in God is a philosophical suicide. Existentialism is mainly popular among young generation, because people might be struggling with it. It is about philosophical suicide or absurdity.

Video 2: The Myth of Sisyphus: The Absurd reasoning (feeling of the Absurd).

This video is all about one thing that is in short that suicide is an individual act. Albert Camus' myth of Sisyphus an elegant suicide is the ultimately work of arts. when we think about our life, we find absurdity in our life, and we behave like stranger, and that  absurd reasoning cause of death-suicide. Which prepare in the silence of heart.

Video 3: The Myth of Sisyphus: the notion of philosophical suicide.

This video is about 'The Myth of Sisyphus' is a 1942 philosophical essay by Albert Camus. The English translation by Justin O'Brien was first published in 1955. In this myth Albert Camus talk about that does the realization of the absurd required suicide? This video is about come out from absurdity and about the reason is useless and there is nothing beyond reason. It means taking leap from absurdity it is not challenging and hard' but remain in that absurdity and problem of absurd and then come out from is, that is very challenging.

Video 4: Dadaism, Nihilism and Existentialism.

This video is about Dadaism,Nihilism and Existentialism. Dadaism is the movement arouse in 1916 after WW2, which is a quest of change. Creation is under than primary goal of Dadaism. there is new path to new value possible. Dadaism and Nihilism are nothing to do with each other. Existentialism as a being an odd movement it concern with making own rules also and make yourself free from all others values.

Video 5: Existentialism - a gloomy philosophy.

In this video Nietzsche says that " Be who you are". Being an individual it does not mean that you are a Narcissist. Life is full of anxiety.  Notion as anxiety, despair, absurdity never seem to live in our argument. Existentialism responds emptiness of absurdity and despair. It counters the nothingness of existence by embracing existence itself. Finding a truth is truth for you. so, this is about the gloomy philosophy of Existentialism.

Video 6 : Existentialism and Nihilism : It is one and the same?

Existentialism and Nihilism are deferent from each other. But, Nihilism is branch of Existentialism at somewhere far. Nietzsche as an essentialist was against Nihilism. For Nietzsche Nihilism is otherworldly existentialism is oppose to the Nihilism. Nihilism comes after the existential thinking. At the thing absurdity of life, here is Nihilism and existentialism both are different.

Video 7: Let us introduce Existentialism again

Existentialism is not a philosophical system nor should it even be viewed as a set of doctrines rather it is probably best classified as a philosophical movement. As a movement Existentialism arose in 19th century, Europe. Soren Kierkegaard and Friedrich Nietzsche are often characterized as the founding father of the movement with the 19th century. Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky also considered as one of its original Giants. " Existence precedes Essence." Existentialism counters the nothingness of existence by embracing existence itself.

Video 8 : Explain like i am five: Existentialism and Nietzsche

This video is about being Ubermensche. In this video the term existentialism explained in very easy way. this video is about Frederick Nietzsche, an idea he inspired called existentialism. The simple meaning of Nietzsche's idea is do what ever you want,  that  a philosophy is called existentialism. Nietzsche said that don't have to believe those all made up rules, you can mack your own rules, and being Ubermensche.

Video 9 : Why I like existentialism? Eric Dodson.

Existentialism accept human being as they are. existentialism allow to live life in their own way. No rules catch you, but you can mack your own rules. As per Nietzsche's idea of ubermasche his superman can do anything.

video 10 : Let us sum up: from Essentialism to Existentialism.

Philosophy is about the dialectic: someone puts forth an idea and then someone else responds to it. Sometimes, the response comes an right away, in other cases, it takes thousands of years. In ancient Greece, Plato and Aristotle took is as given that everything has an essence - a certain set of core properties that are necessary, or essential - a certain set for a thing to be what it is. The things which gives defining function , is the essential property. Plato and Aristotle thought that everything has an essence - including us. "Essence precedes our Existence".
